A graduate of the State University of New York, Zariq Siddiqui works as senior manager of sales operation and strategy at the nutrition products division of Abbott Laboratories, Inc., in Chicago. Aside from his work responsibilities, Zariq Siddiqui donates to several charities, including United Way.

Established in 1932, the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago helps people get access to healthcare and education. It also seeks to give aid to the unemployed and hungry. It does this by connecting people through advocating and volunteering opportunities.

In 2011, the chapter created a 10-year plan called Live United 2020. This plan focuses on community needs and on education, financial stability, and health, as well as on basic needs, including food, safety, and shelter. In May 2017, the chapter announced that thanks to thousands of donors, board members, and volunteers, it surpassed the goals four years ahead of the deadline it had set.

-60,223 middle school students expected to graduate

-577,121 people became connected to a primary care physician
