Zariq Siddiqui serves as pediatric district sales manager with Abbott Laboratories, Inc., and guides product marketing efforts aimed at hospitals and OB/GYN and pediatric clinics. Zariq Siddiqui has a passion for Broadway musicals and enjoys classics such as The Phantom of the Opera, Grease, and The Sound of Music. The latter musical is one of Broadway’s most enduring productions and represents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s final collaboration.
With a true story as its inspiration, the plot of The Sound of Music centers around Maria, a novice nun who leaves religious life. She becomes a governess for the von Trapp family, which includes a naval captain widower and seven boisterous children. Maria and the retired captain fall in love, and they and the children flee Austria following its annexation by Nazi Germany. The musical reaches a climax with the music-loving family crossing the Alps into the safe haven of neutral Switzerland.
The family on which this story is based emigrated to the United States and had a successful touring career as the Trapp Family Singers. The inspirational story also birthed a 1965 Hollywood production that stands as the most popular musical film of all time.
