I am an active supporter of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, a charity that aims to help families dealing with poverty in more than 20 countries. Focusing specifically on assisting the youngest and oldest members of communities, the Foundation gives philanthropists the opportunity to sponsor a child or an older person for only $30 a month. This sponsorship, which includes access to food, clothing, medical care, and education, helps not only the sponsored beneficiary, but also his or her entire family. Often, a sponsored child’s parents will receive training in specific skills that can help the family become more self-sufficient and escape poverty.
Last month at the Philanthropy Midwest conference held in Kansas City, the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging received two first-place awards for its communications efforts, specifically its electronic newsletters and video presentations.
